Riding Through Paradise: A Motorcycle Adventure in North Goa

ree

There’s something magical about exploring Goa on a Royal Enfield Classic 350. The thump of the engine, the salty breeze in your hair, and the endless coastal roads winding through palm trees—it’s the kind of journey that stays with you forever.

Last winter, I set out on a solo motorcycle trip through North Goa, and it was everything I dreamed of and more. If you’re planning a similar adventure, here’s my story along with some essential tips to make your ride unforgettable.

The Journey Begins: Arriving in North Goa

On my free weekend rented a Royal Enfield. The moment I kicked the bike to life, I knew this was going to be special. North Goa is compact enough to explore on two wheels but diverse enough to keep you hooked for days.

Must-Visit Stops on Your Motorcycle Route

1. Panjim – The Perfect Starting Point

Before hitting the beaches, I spent a day in Panjim, Goa’s charming capital. The Fontainhas neighborhood, with its colorful Portuguese houses, was a great place to fuel up on coffee and poee bread omelets.

Pro Tip: Rent your bike from a reputable shop (I recommend Lobo’s Rentals in Panjim) and check the brakes, tires, and paperwork before riding off.

2. Chapora Fort—For the Bollywood & Biker Vibes

Made famous by Dil Chahta Hai, Chapora Fort offers stunning sunset views over Vagator Beach. The ride up is a short but steep climb—perfect for testing your bike’s power.

Pro Tip: Park at the base and hike the last stretch—it’s safer and gives you time to soak in the scenery.

3. Anjuna & Vagator—Hippie Havens & Cliffside Rides

The roads around Anjuna and Vagator are a biker’s dream—winding, hilly, and dotted with beach shacks. I stopped at Thalassa for Greek food with a view and Shiva Valley for some trance music under the stars.

Pro Tip: Always carry a rain poncho (December-February is dry, but weather can be unpredictable).

4. Morjim & Ashwem—Serenity & Seafood

If you want to escape the crowds, ride north to Morjim (known as "Little Russia") and Ashwem. The empty roads and beachfront cafes like La Plage make it worth the detour.

Pro Tip: Try the Goan fish curry at any local joint—it’s a must!

5. Arambol—The Bohemian Paradise

My final stop was Arambol, a haven for backpackers and bikers alike. The Sweet Water Lake and Arambol Beach are perfect for a relaxed evening.

Pro Tip: If you’re into live music, check out Double Dutch or Shiva Place for impromptu jam sessions.

Essential Motorcycle Travel Tips for North Goa

  1. Rent Smart—Go for a Royal Enfield Classic 350 or Himalayan for comfort on rough roads.

  2. Pack Light—A small backpack with essentials (sunscreen, water, phone mount) is all you need.

  3. Stay safe—wear a helmet, avoid riding drunk, and watch out for sudden potholes.

  4. Fuel Up—Petrol stations are frequent, but fill up before heading to remote beaches.

  5. Respect the Roads—Goan roads are narrow; ride cautiously, especially at night.

Final Thoughts

Riding through North Goa on a Royal Enfield was pure freedom—the kind of trip where every turn brings a new surprise. Whether it’s the thrill of coastal curves, the taste of spicy vindaloo, or the sound of waves crashing as you park your bike by the sand, this is an adventure you’ll never forget.

So, if you’re dreaming of open roads and salty air, start planning your Goa motorcycle trip today. Just don’t forget to take it slow—because in Goa, the journey matters more than the destination.
